Injections

Hi eveyone!

I know it has been a week or so since I last blogged, WHEW...it's been busy! I had a great time over the 4th. I saw family and had alot of time to visit, which was nice. I got back wed. the 5th and I had orientation on thurs. the 6th for school. I received a pair of scrubs and took my picture for the student I.D.'s I have yet to receive. I had alot of fun meeting new people and learning about my amazing new career.
I started school bright and early friday morning and it was lab day. I was nervous because I was not sure what this consisted of, but I soon found out....INJECTIONS and a bunch of other non scary things. There are only three of us new students and one did not show up until really late, so this left Mary and I to give and receive four injections a piece....WHAT? I was so nervous I felt sick. I did not want to hurt anyone or have them hurt me. Mary and I we're amateurs, but now we are pros, (well almost). It was the coolest thing! It did not hurt a lick, although one of the 4 left a good sting when we were finished. We will get to do this again this friday, plus learn to take each others blood and then perform with drawing blood from each other.
I am really enjoying school so far, granted it is only the second day. However i can't believe how much I need to know in such a short amount of time. Wed. I am to test over the heart, lymphatic sytem (both fill in diagrams) and spelling & termonology, along with lecture notes, of 5 hours. This did not seem to bad. I started of course friday night and today in class she added more things to the test as well as thurs. testing over theory of heart and lymphatic system. This might sound like I am complaing, however I am not. I am of course abit overwhelmed with all the medical information , yet at the same time very EXCITED! I have a great support team to encourage me and keep me afloat. I believe this will be one of the most exciteing, quickest, hardest adventures I have taken. For being out of school for 5 years, I feel I am doing pretty well so far.
I went to see my surgeon, (Dr. Arnold) today for my 6 week check up and he says I am doing really well. I have lost 38 pounds! I thought this was not very good or that I should have lost more by now, but he said the average pounds lost at 6 weeks is normally 25 to 30. So, I am doing great and I do need to stop weighing every day because it is only discouraging. I am not going to be so hard on myself , (being so controlling) because I realized this weight loss is in God's hands and His control not mine. I know I talked alot about my experiences the last couple of days, but I also know God is guiding me and moving me through all of my experiences in life. I am so thankful for this opportunity to go to school, learn and then have a career I love and can show people our Saviors' love and what He sacrificed for us...HIS LIFE.

I look forward to hearing from you. Have a fabulous night.
